Well well, lets have a look at where the money has been spent

It's this simple, really.

The really sad thing for me is, I think most people are very well aware of these ratios.

I think you're pretty spot on. Probably more like people wouldn't be surprised of the ratio's. But for the most part, they'd rather not spoil themselves with the truth of the details. Because then well, they'd have no excuse.

I wish I had more money, I'd be a lot kinder than others. It's a shame you have to have nothing to value something.

I really hate to be the pee in the oatmeal, but the Dept. of Education squanders billions every year on political correctness, useless salaries, junkets to tropical islands, and general waste.
I don't doubt that the single dollar is what the children get, but the level of corruption begins at the top.

Just my 2 cents, for a first post.

No, Cheesecakelarry, I must be forced to agree with your concerns. Indeed, a tremendously large amount of money is lost for the apparent increasing in efficiencies elsewhere. Budgeting, mass economies of scale, division of labour, scientific management.

You are very right to say that 'something is lost' - thats the tradeoff - at least it is in computer programming. I'm going to make the assumption that the science of numbers and equilibrium apply to all things in reality. And indeed, even those things that don't - such as peoples vestings in how importance such a squandering of money is. If think its safe to say if we didn't confuse words like 'good education' with 'hideous amounts of expenditure' we might not be in this situation to start. (as a world).

Good to see you're first post cheesy

Thanks.
When I was a substitute teacher, I got paid a pittence. And then I saw superindendents making 6 figures in a rural community. I know that is nothing compared to the waste in DC but even the lowest level 'crat thinks of themselves first and nothing of the kids.

i know this is an incredibly blunt plan, but how about we set a budget, that doesn't exceed our revenue. that's what i have to do in my everyday life, why doesn't the united state have to follow these rules. And yes i know initially we would suffer, but eventually we would come out stronger.

EDIT

And if you can't cut, at least set stricter guidelnes on how this money is spent. We are digging our own graves, and the working class citizen can't carry the United States forever.
