The CFL con exposed:

CFLs 200 times more dangerous than we were told:

CFL Bulbs Exceed EPA Saftey Limits for Mercury

"Compact fluorescent light bulbs have long been known to contain poisonous liquid mercury, but a study released earlier this year shows the level of mercury vapor released from broken bulbs skyrockets past accepted safety levels.

Following a story reported by WND last year about a Maine woman quoted $2,000 for cleaning up a broken fluorescent bulb, or CFL, in her home, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection studied the dangers of broken CFLs and the adequacy of recommended cleanup procedures.

The results were stunning: Breaking a single compact fluorescent bulb on the floor can spike mercury vapor levels in a room – particularly at a child's height – to over 300 times the EPA's standard accepted safety level."

This is a great post did you see Keep Your Distance from Fluorescent Bulbs , I was surprised to read this because I have a fluorescent bulb myself. Basically without a surrounding container, it's a shortcut to melanoma, Which reminds me I really need to get that damn bulb replaced ASAP.

It's not just the mercury in them. It's ... the mercury's wavelengths outputted from excitement. That's why you need the radiation sheething. It's really damned bloody mental!!! It's the equivalent of the devils sunlight. There's nothing good about CFL lights at all. They may match the wavelengths SPECTRUMS better for natural light, but that's pretty damned pointless, if they end up with skin cancer.
I'd imagine its also bad news for the few people that might get winter sickness - they could practically be substituting depression for cancer, and that's not good either!!

Hey, that's not a bad idea at all Agent Smith, either that or get CFL's / CFL attatchments with an encapsulate/insulator.

To be honest , i favor a bulb that doesn't suck like hell!! It's funny, i feel like Curie may have, i've used, and am using an unshielded tri fold CFL, that creates matching 'near sunlight' wavelengths , and is supposed to be GOOD FOR YOU.

What a crock. Kinda angry about that. Makes me want to get a bit of 3mm tungsten and solder it onto an old bulb terminal that's had the cap unfixed.

That way i'll have a bulb that'll last 100 years. seriously

Just don't believe the hype. CFLs pollute the environment and do not save any energy at all. Incandescent bulbs produce heat, a lot of heat. Remove them and central heating systems compensate for that heat loss, so what you save in electricity is lost in gas.

Also your electricity bills will not get cheaper: less units of electricity sold means less profits for energy companies, so they increase the price per unit to maintain profit margins.

It is all a con job.

I have a question. Are the long straight tubular flourescents made the same way? (with the same toxins?)
